About GreenStep
GreenStep is a social enterprise, founded in 2008 to help businesses and organizations measure and improve their sustainability performance and take meaningful climate action.
Our people are your sustainability guides; walking beside your business or organization on its sustainability journey, offering support, expertise, and building capacity each step of the way.
To date, we have worked with thousands of businesses and organizations in Canada and globally, within several sectors, including private, public, non-profit and academic institutions; in a variety of industries such as tourism and hospitality, retail, professional services, and manufacturing; and with organizations of all sizes, from owner-operated businesses to publicly traded companies.
We practice what we preach. GreenStep has been a Certified B Corporation since 2015, and we’re powered by 100% renewable energy with Bullfrog Power.
Each year we use our sister company, EcoBase Carbon Software, to measure our carbon footprint. The carbon emissions we can’t reduce, we offset, and GreenStep has been carbon neutral since 2011.

GreenStep has taken Canada’s Net Zero Challenge, is a signatory of the Glasgow Declaration, and has set a science-based greenhouse gas reduction target, following the Science-Based Reduction Targets initiative (SBTi) SME Pathway.
As such, we have committed to measuring and reducing our Scope 1, 2, and 3 Carbon Footprint. We have set a near-term target to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint by 100% by 2030, and to achieve a 90% reduction in our Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon footprint by 2050. In 2022, GreenStep also became Climate Neutral Certified, and now works alongside The Change Climate Project to offer our software and consulting services to other Climate Neutral Certified brands like Pela and tentree, who want to become Climate Neutral Certified.
